Dr Sunthar Kanaganayagam

Dr Kanaganayagam has practiced privately in London for a number of years and performs rigorous assessment of chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, cardiac risk and other common cardiology conditions. He is regarded an expert in a number of cardiac diagnostic techniques (CT coronary angiography, echo and stress echocardiography, cardiac MRI and transoesophageal echocardiography), enabling rapid and complete private investigation.

He takes a complete, and hands-on, approach to his patients' healthcare. He has pioneered an exemplar service within the NHS, developed pathways alongside patients and GPs, and been an opinion leader amongst the most novel treatments for heart disease, especially heart failure. His emphasis on detail is reflected in his role as Director for Quality and Safety across Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery at Imperial College Healthcare.

He was trained at Kings College London and intercalated a PhD in Cardiology at St Thomas’ Hospital whilst a medical student, with prizes, distinctions and a scholarship. He continued training as an academic and clinician at tertiary and quaternary cardiology centres, St Thomas', Imperial College Hospitals and the Royal Brompton Hospital.
