If you're feeling unwell or have symptoms, it's best to see your GP first. Have a conversation with them about whether you might benefit from a specialist assessment or treatment.

If your GP believes you would benefit from seeing a specialist and you prefer to pay for it privately, they can write a letter of referral to a private consultant or specialist. This letter will explain your condition and your medical history. Keep in mind that there may be a charge for this service.

You may or may not need a GP referral depending on the service you need. If you have private health insurance, they usually require a referral from your GP to see someone privately. If you're having difficulty, UME Health has GPs who can assist you. If you're paying for yourself, you can directly make an appointment with your chosen clinician.
