Bio
Shabaaz is a highly experienced Consultant Physician in Sport & Exercise Medicine. He was one of the first consultants in the country in this medical speciality. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine and has 14 years of experience in elite sport, primarily in football but across a wide range of sports.
Currently in private practice, he has most recently led the medical and sport science department at Tottenham Hotspur FC during a very successful period in the clubs recent history, spending 12 years in total there. He is a multiple award-winning doctor, gaining international recognition for his role in the on field cardioplumonary resuscitation of Fabrice Muamba.
Shabaaz has held numerous positions of responsibility including Chair of the Premier League Doctors Group and President of the Royal Society of Medicine, Sport and Exercise Medicine section. He has contributed significantly to the development of medical care in the Premier League as a member of the Premier League Medical Working Group and Steering Group on Head Injuries and Concussion.
