Dr Upkar Gill

Dr Upkar Gill is a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Hepatologist based at Queen Mary University of London and Barts Health NHS Trust. He is recognised for his expertise in liver immunology, viral hepatitis (particularly hepatitis B), and liver cancer.

Dr Gill trained in medicine at the University of Leeds, followed by clinical posts at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, and further academic work in London and Singapore. He has published over 60 scientific papers, with a strong focus on liver immunology and hepatitis B virus (HBV) pathogenesis and treatment. His research explores immunological defects in chronic hepatitis B and links clinical immunology with computational biology.​
